@naught101 Seemed pretty directly on point regarding what analysis does versus praxis. ymmv

@naught101 A focus on "causes" tends to essentially create a confirmation bias. A focus on mental hygiene tends towards mental hygiene. Make your bed, brush your teeth, take a walk, do all of those basic, quietly life-affirming activities of daily living which almost imperceptibly shift us out of analytical reinforcement of our "problems" and into experiential reinforcement of life's simple joys.

Not everyone has a bed to make, a sink where they can brush their teeth, teeth to brush...

@bookie @gedaliyah And rivers and crystals are alive, if you define "alive" broadly enough.

What, then, makes a given definition useful? True?

What does it mean to be conscious?

@RobotToaster @moncharleskey Which is why we used to have "the dollar menu," to keep the plebes bellies just full enough.

Someone, however, seems to have either forgotten that lesson or decided they have enough power to ignore it.

@communist @HazardousBanjo Where were you during the last election? Because, yeah, there were plenty of folks who were saying exactly that. Remember 2016 when Susan Sarandon said exactly that?

@ExLisper @Vedlt The cliffhanger in the second movie was legit homage to the old Saturday morning serials ,Buster Crabbe style. Not that I liked it, but I think it's legit. However, there is no forgiving the Ewoks, the yub yub dance, Jar Jar Binks, or a thousand and one other crass marketing grabs. And by the way, Han fucking shot first, mother-fucker.

@Rhynoplaz @bizarroland what greater magic than kindness and compassion? We have that here, you have that power, here, now.

@LordMayor @Vedlt I amused my sweetheart the other night by explaining the Lucas/Kurasawa influence, and pointing out that a katana is not a broadsword but is instead a type of saber, not heavy.

@queerlilhayseed @bjoern_tantau I think I'm okay with calling the side that uses technology to destroy entire planets "the bad guys." Your Sith mileage may vary.

@TheImpressiveX Back in 2000 I briefly taught at UC Santa Barbara. One class was a summer, two week course in Adobe Director for Japanese high school graduates prior to entering Ritsumeikan University. I cast about looking for a Japanese version of the program, but could not find it. One of the students later told me they wouldn't expect such a thing to exist, as English was the language of coding.
