Love what LibreOffice is doing but I'm praying they get a UX designer to do a full pass of the program. I try to use it every few years and just can't. Browsing the settings is a nightmare. The UI is too compact and it's hard to tell where anything is.

Very excited for Cosmic. I wanted to like Gnome but it's a pain in the ass in so many ways, with weird design decisions that constantly ruin the experience. They tell you to use extensions to get basic features like a system tray, but then break extensions every update.

KDE is in a fantastic spot but I'm ready for something new.

I played something like 15 hours when EA first released before deciding to put it away

Same here, you're in for a treat. There's a lot that's been improved.

Fixed Volt Filament damage multiplier not applying for certain Silk Skills.

I knew I wasn't crazy. Volt Filament worked great on Thread Storm but I could barely feel its effects on my other skills.

Fixed Cogflies and Wisps inappropriately targeting Skullwings.

Great change, this bothered me a lot

Fixed Cogflies incorrectly resetting their HP to full on scene change.

No...

Not mentioned in the patch notes is that they apparently made many environmental hazards deal 1 damage instead of 2, including the worms at Blasted Steps and the cogs in act 2. This is huge and it feels like classic team cherry to not include it in the notes.

I've gotten as far as I could, but didn't do everything.

spoilerI did most of the fairy puzzles but didn't do the golden path; I ended up looking up how it's done on Youtube since it sounds like a huge investment. As much as I liked the puzzles, I'm good with the regular ending.

You can create a Group for the planet then check in your code if that's what the area is touching. Ex: if body.is_in_group("planet"): #do something

I wonder if they're going to change the name to include a K in it like their other apps? Kanimator has a good ring to it.

It's also a lot easier to manage via code since you could just get children and have each layer have its own group.

Saw this and thought it was really cool. It's still in an early state and is currently using a scripting system with an editor coming in the future, but it seems very polished and simple to use. Open source, too.

but we were forcefed STEM at every turn by school, media, and most importantly, our parents. It's where the money is, and not money for money's sake, but money for job and financial security. Clearly, the siren song was hard to resist, not just for me, but for droves of people my age.

Great post that I feel like is more relevant than ever. I don't regret my decision in pursuing CS because I'm quite passionate for it, but I know a few peers that regret it (one of which switched to another college 3 years into his Bachelor's).

There's definitely a lot of misleading that happens when people talk about tech jobs. One of the first lectures in my college was the professor praising people for choosing CS, assuring them it's the right choice, then showing us a graph of average salaries in the industry. "You see, web developers earn $110K per year! Software engineers a little more so!". It also came with more talk about how companies are always on the lookout for talent and finding a job should be super easy compared to other fields.

Maybe that was the case ~10 years ago, but it certainly doesn't seem to be now. I hope that more instructors would be more honest that CS is not for everyone, it's a long and difficult journey that not everyone would want to put up with. It's also not as lucrative and stable as some people romanticize it to be. Just my $0.02.

I made a blog post on my biggest issue in Lemmy and the proposed solutions for it. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

If you're using GPUParticles in the compatibility renderer in the last few betas, you should upgrade now. There was a bug where particles would sometimes not emit that got fixed here. Was quite frustrating.

I made a guide a while back explaining everything. It's easier than it looks, you'll just use a manager like Lutris or Heroic and download the newest version of Wine-GE, then your games should work.

Godot 4.x projects are compatible with each other and are stable but some people don't upgrade right away for stability or plugins specific to that version. You don't see many companies upgrading from Unity 2021 straight into Unity 2022 when it drops, they'd still use Unity 2021 for various reasons. That's why Unity has Unity Hub for managing versions. I think a project like this can be useful.
