I mean, i also only post/comment on lemmy to elicit responses, am I a troll too? Thats kinda the point of posting/commenting. Hes not doing it for ragebaiting as far as i can tell. I also think it would be attention seeking if that was the entire content of his profile, but its not. He posts in communities about the community topic, and it seems to be adding value to those communities. He just uses a dofferent way of writing and you call him a troll, a well known one too.

I also play a lot of eve online, and the ships engine looks a lot like the capacitor meter in the game 😁

Thanks! Ill take some time to look into what you said and try to really understand it, but if I need some help I'll ask you. As for how many splits a TUI might have, I dont know because I need it to be quite general so that others can use it for their own purposes. Me personally and for this specific project, Ill mostly need a bunch of columns (like blue and green in step 2) as well as the "special" windows, for my application. I'm trying to make a trello/kanban style app with ncurses and C.

I corrected it and restarted the ssh service and then logged in as test user but it still give the same output. Tbh I havent slept so I think I should leave it until tomorrow and look at it with fresh eyes.

Ill remove the dir parameter and add the stdout logging and come back with more info.

As for the subject body, I set those from the -s and -b flags respectively when calling semail

Ill try adding the log options, and come back with results.

As for the sshd config, UsePAM is set to yes.

The way I understand it is that you dont need the extensions if you use brave (i dont have any of those installed and just use as strict shield settings as I can) but they will support them for as long as possible for those who also want to use the extensions. Brave seems to use a modified version of the chromium engine in their browser which includes the shields.

The only issues ive had so far are with youtube's recent "3 strikes" message, which gets fixed by brave within a couple of days to make yt unable to detect that brave is using (or is itself) an ad blocker.

Ok, this is super interesting and a bit of a weird coincidence, because on the page you linked it mentions that they are also a community of the blind and it is really important to me to have my page be accessible to visually impaired people, and I already made some steps into making it screen-reader compatible. I still need feedback from them though because not being blind myself I cant be sure if what I used to test the screen-reading is actually what the blind community uses, nor if it would actually be useful for them!

Do they offer hosting and ssh access? If so, how can I go about setting all that up?

Edit: Looking at their donations page it seems that they may be partly linked to the USA which I want to avoid:

HOW DO I DONATE?

You can send cash (USD, YEN or EUR), cheque or a money order to:

SDF Public Access UNIX System
PO Box 17355
Seattle WA 98127

Even though their server is in Germany if they have any relation to the USA its a shame.

  1. Why use bottles rather than lutris? Whats their difference? Im asking because the one time I tried using bottles I dont think I managed to get it to work with whatever it was I was trying to install.
  2. Ive never heard of portproton, but it looks like it does essentially the same thing as if you install through the steam client as a non-steam game using proton (?). If thats the case, why use it over any of the other options?

Thanks

I assume you have tried the BIOS reset procedure? I think it’s holding FN + S + V while the system is powered off.

Is this the same as what @Evv1L@mastodon.ml mentioned?

Also there is a reset button in the bottom of the laptop near ThinkEngine controller: Power off the laptop, disconnect both batteries and CMOS and hold reset button for a minute.

If yes I'm going to try it now and get back to you

EDIT: I tried the Fn + S + V but wasn't sure if I need to do it while batteries are disconnected, or if I needed to hold it for the full 1 minute, so I held it down for about 20 seconds with the battery plugged in. Didn't seem to fix it.

As for the BIOS, some stuff I read in forum posts etc leads me to think that the the check isn't actually in the BIOS but in the EC chip, so replacing the BIOS wouldn't do much. Is this truly the case, or does a replacement BIOS also circumvent the EC check? Many thanks for your help.
