unveils LibrePhone

aims to create a fully free and open mobile platform

So it doesn't actually exist? I cannot find any information about it at all.

Cue my lack of surprise when they realize there are no 5g compatible basebands with open firmware, and you can't practically make your own.

I will be even less surprised that they probably won't support 5g at all.

What’s the benefit for them?

Not being targeted by a President.

Why they wouldn’t want to please previous administrations?

Those administrations weren't targeting them.

I think it's always about the money, plain and simple. If there is a threat to their gravy train, they will bend over backwards to keep it going. Otherwise, they don't care about you.

Actually they're smarter than you... they know they don't need to brainwash every single citizen, only the ones gullible enough to fall for it, which is the vast majority of the population.

Only even 5% of the world population has objectively good computer skills according to OECD.

what the gimp haters are always so mad about

You have to use a plugin to even draw a circle properly.

You can't make non-destructive changes to things like filtered elements e.g. make blurred/outlined/etc. text and then change the text.

Content-aware functions

big whoop

Just how different it is from Photoshop is literally the biggest complaint people have. And that it's just unintuitive to many even if you never used photoshop. For gimp to propel in popularity I think it has to become more familiar to what professionals are used to.

Good luck, every day more than 1PB is uploaded to IA.

yea those anti-AI clauses are completely unenforceable, it's just elitist virtue signaling.

Considering the Internet, GPS and weather satellites, three widely utilised and ubiquitous global services rose out of DARPA, whilst I'm not American, taking issue with investment in a Linux distro is closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Wait until these people figure out where computers came from.
