Hardware compatibility. I have one machine that won't boot any Linux installer at all. Another with constant gpu driver problems. Another where Bluetooth doesn't work at all. Another where wifi firmware crashes all the time. It never ends.

Warrant canaries are not fool-proof. Courts/government/other secret gag orders can force a company to not disclose any change of situation even if it means lying to the public. It has happened several times before.

This seems like a minefield of clashes with distro-specific behavior. What happens if your system is using different software than what it expects or a policy that exists in Windows doesn't always make sense in the target environment? I wonder how it is being dealt with?
And what about more broad policies like denying filesystem write access?

I know it's not BSD but, gentoo already does similar with elogind to support all init systems with gnome, so maybe they could use something like that too.
