The version I heard was that hg people were way nicer to them and very much willing to help compared to git.

I feel like Linus got a taste of his own medicine dealing with Gtk and Gnome people while developing Subsurface and that caused them to switch to Qt.

Hardware compatibility. I have one machine that won't boot any Linux installer at all. Another with constant gpu driver problems. Another where Bluetooth doesn't work at all. Another where wifi firmware crashes all the time. It never ends.

Not all programs can be run easily in a VM or wine/etc., several apps/games I use will not run without a bare-metal windows OS or at the very least a dual-GPU system with a passthrough VM.

The amount of new bugs introduced since Qt 6 is embarassingly, staggeringly massive. It has only very recently started going down to where it is becoming usable. But every new release breaks something new so /shrug
