I don't think there is one yet... it would need some kind of way to understand the possible options and parameters for any given CLI program, and without a standardized interface for that, error-prone scraping of --help or just hard-coding popular options is probably the best you could do. Hopefully it wouldn't end up looking something like the Scratch programming IDE though.

This reminds of jc which is kindof the opposite where it scrapes the output of common commands to present a more unified (JSON) syntax for other programs to consume and automate better.

"checking" does not prevent anything bad from happening. and if that file were read by a malicious actor, it would likely be immediate and you'd never even notice.

To be fair, I prefer nodejs/npm to have as little to do with my home folder as possible, and not have to worry about maintaining my own versions/updates/etc. as I am not a regular user of JS, don't already have the toolchain(s) and don't want to.

IMO It's not always that simple. Yes some countries do this but it can also backfire (and has). Some examples:

• unfairly targeting rich people in order to help the town budget

• previous annual incomes may be vastly different from current monthly wages (furloughed etc.)

• punishment being spun as a political tool similar to trump's martyrs

Yea but all that function pointer indirection can actually hurt performance (especially caching), some things in C++ actually can be faster just because the compiler is better at optimizing for that.
