fail2ban was the first thing we had installed, we have now added an additional layer ;)
At the moment, our DATATERM instance is running on a VPS at Hetzner with an ARM CPU.
Depending on the size, it is planned to move the instance to a server with more power at a later date.

There is a way to check if everything is running smoothly, mostly via an API directly from the software. I will soon when I find time create a status page for all the fun pages we have :)
Unfortunately, there are still a few small problems with the instance, what you describe we have also noticed.
There will be a few changes in short, I hope that the problem is eliminated. I'm not sure if the VM is too weak or the software is not good enough. By the way, we also have a !nightcitybar community here ;D
