I use invidious for youtube watching. and I set the resolution to 480p (because of my internet) I have noticed for sometime that the video looks more smooth and less pixel-y than before. but when I used video snapshot (which take a frame) and I saw that the frame that firefox saved to my drive is pixel-y and less smooth and not like the video it shows to me.

I even checked with screenshot (which take picture of screen and not a direct video frame extract) and I can see that it is smoothed.

what is happening?

could it be AMD ? could it be my desktop KDE doing something?

it is a bit hard to show it but I can clearly see that the video frame I extract is less smooth that the video shown.

OP is not updating his Arch system regularly.

his previous update must have been at least two hours old.

first they disabled Russian porsches and I didn't care because I am not a russian owner of a porsche.

then they came for Ukrainian tractors and I didn't care because I am not an Ukrainian owner of a tractor.

then step by step everything was digitally locked and I owned nothing and I was not really happy.

unpopular opinion:
I agree with them... kinda.
if you live in your house, that's your home and you should not pay another rent based on its price.

using price of home for taxes causes every government official from mayor up to at best not really care if houses prices go up or actually fight policies that lower it.
I see a lot of people here that advocate for property taxes as a progressive tax but I don't see it that way at all.

my take is government should tax empty houses and rents for landlords.

it is a mistake to follow Neo-liberal thinking of "you are the landlord of you own home" which is prevalent in financial world to make homes investment assets and count rent as GDP which make government be happy that number go up.

I hear here that "boomers" like high price of houses so they "deserve" punishment of high property taxes.
but if you live you own home and don't make money of it, you don't get any positive from house prices going up. most "news" about someone selling their house for a lot of money and going into smaller house is just them needing that money for healthcare and living, not investment.

and this mentality makes a self-fulfilling situation that prevent from actual affordability of houses.

fight for high taxes on empty houses and rents. don't make people living in their own homes renters of government.

I have set languages for posts as persian and english and un-selected undetermined.

but I still get post in other languages and after open setting I see that undetermined option is pre-selected. it seems that I can't disable it. any idea why?

Ubuntu 25.10's transition to using Rust Coreutils in place of GNU Coreutils has uncovered a few performance issues so far with the Rust version being slower than the C-based GNU Coreutils. Fortunately there still are a few weeks to go until Ubuntu 25.10 releases as stable and upstream developers are working to address these performance gaps.

"Set for a year-end release, AV2 is not only an upgrade to the widely adopted AV1 but also a foundational piece of AOMedia’s future tech stack.

AV2, a generation leap in open video coding and the answer to the world’s growing streaming demands, delivers significantly better compression performance than AV1. AV2 provides enhanced support for AR/VR applications, split-screen delivery of multiple programs, improved handling of screen content, and an ability to operate over a wider visual quality range. AV2 marks a milestone on the path to an open, innovative future of media experiences."

I am from Iran. whatever point you want to make about Iran with Pahlavi dictatorship, this aint it.

the parliament in Pahlavi era was literary just rubber stamp the king orders.

when shah (king) came back with help of CIA it reversed all the mashroote (conditional monarchy) progress and became a absolute dictatorship.

Iranian women condition are way better now than under Pahlavi (outside of dress code laws).

sorry to hear about trump fucking up your rights.
