Yes. This is how real estate markets work (or don't).

In other news, people who bought gas guzzlers when gas was cheap are now taking devastating pump receipts.

This just means (usually) that your system synchronizes with something that doesn't support special characters (e.g. mainframes).

Remember kids: Mainframes suck. They're awful legacy garbage that holds back adoption of superior, actually secure technologies. Soooo many things that make you go, "WTF?" in IT can be traced back to having to support legacy systems (like mainframes).

I know, right? Why send my BBQ data to the cloud when I can just cook with a handful of GPUs, locally? To start the grill you just ask the animated waifu to dance and sing a random, AI-generated song that matches your taste in music. Then the fans spin up and send scrumptious GPU heat into the grill, cooking up a delicious hallucination where your animated waifu sings, "That looks yummy! Yummy yummy yummy! Hai hai hai!"

Future news story: Trump wanted to use nuclear bomb on Iran but couldn't figure out how to read the codes in the nuclear football.

"No matter how many times I asked no one brought me a football. They just kept handing me a briefcase!"

The correct response is to do as he asks... Respectfully remove the painting.

Then replace it with a picture of an orange baby and put his name on the plaque.

Doesn't really matter since food dye is completely unimportant. Candy, cakes, and other foods will taste exactly the same without Red #3.

Better to eliminate any potential risks to ourselves and our pets/livestock than keep it around so Big Company can get better sales with their bright red whatever.

It seems RFK Jr is walking back some of his previous statements about vaccines. Notably, that he doesn't seem to want to ban them all anymore. From just two days ago:

He's still planning on making everyone's teeth rot though.

As someone who's caught a leaker in the past (well, someone that was exfiltrating company secrets to a competitor) catching leakers is actually pretty easy if you have any modicum of control over the tools they use and the places they work. Barring that, no. Just no. It's not going to happen.

If a leaker is gullible and stupid some trickery is possible but I wouldn't get my hopes up, Warner Music. Seems like a job that's doomed to fail from the start. I wouldn't even bother unless they know it's just a job on paper and are actually just looking to give someone's kid a legit-sounding job to pad their resume 🤷

Not only that but if I were in charge of hiring I'd be extremely skeptical of any and all applicants. Anyone smart enough to do the job will know it's impossible and will just become a master of stalling and picking low hanging fruit (aka useless) and everyone else is just a fraud.

My thoughts exactly: Yes, Trump do please double down on the dumb! Expose the racism and sexism in your heart! Show the world what you really stand for! Don't hold back, now: If you really think sharks are going to electrocute you and that the windmills are being constructed by liberals for the sole purpose of giving you cancer just let it all out. Use the world as your therapy couch 👍

It will force people like my neighbors--who already proudly display Trump signs in their yards--to reveal exactly the type of people that they are.

Dental Hygienist. They make like $40/hour to clean people's teeth. It only requires an associates degree and you can get it from community college (aka cheap).

"Consumers don't like self checkout"‽ Are they crazy? I love self checkout! You know what I don't like? When I have to wait for a self checkout to become available because there's not enough human checkouts.

My local Walmart has about 25% of their checkouts as self checkouts. They'll have 4 lanes open with humans and 1/3rd of the self checkouts won't be operational. This is the worst of all possible options!

If you only plan to have 4 human checkouts why do you have so few self checkouts‽ Arg! It frustrates the crap out of me every time I go there.

Another thing that pisses me off is that the human checkout lanes are designed so inefficiently. In the self checkout I can pick up the scanner and scan everything in my cart at about twice or three times the speed of a human checkout because the human lane has a horrible setup that necessitates taking everything out of the cart to get it scanned whereas with the self checkout one can scan everything while it's still in the cart.

You can scan scan scan at super speed, grab a bunch of bags, then put everything in the bags as needed in your car afterwards. You can be done in seconds!

Or be even more efficient like me and just keep your own bags in the car and skip the whole, "grab some bags" step.

This way also makes the door receipt checker person's job so much faster because they can visibly see everything in your cart; no need to peek into every bag looking for expensive items that may not have been purchased.

Let's move forward, society! Give us 100% self checkout lanes and just have people there to assist with scanning and bagging for the people that need help.
