Their plan: The poor should just die already.

When you work on the same thing for 8 hours a day for years and then suddenly management decides that they need "detailed time tracking."

They just gave you a new job without additional compensation. New responsibilities, no new title, no raise, etc.

Then—months later—they realize that everyone's spending at least half an hour, regularly to figure out how they're spending their time. Some bean counter adds up how much that costs in real money and then—out of nowhere—management decides they don't need detailed time tracking anymore.

Interestingly, that's how it works for construction jobs too!

Things will break and they will be back.

To be fair, when it comes to stock photos the creatives already got paid. You're just violating the copyright of a big corporation at that point (if you distribute the images... If you never distribute the images then you've committed no crime).

You jest but this implies everything is fine... Now.

Self-tapping too! Nice 👍

New Years resolution the past 5 years: I will get better with Rust.

...and I do get better but somehow it always feels like it's not enough. Like, I'm still an imposter.

I can program an entire embedded USB keyboard/mouse firmware from scratch that can do all sorts of things no keyboard has ever done before yet I still feel like a newbie somehow. Like there's all these people that talk about traits and mutli-threaring with async and GPU and AI stuff and I'm like, "I wrote an embedded_hal crate that lets you use both 8 and 16-channel multiplexers simultaneously!" or, "I wrote an interface that let's you use the extra space in your RP2040 flash memory as a filesystem!"

Yet everything I ever write in Rust always just uses the most basic and simple features because I still have trouble with complex lifetimes (passing them around quickly gets too confusing for me) and traits that work with non-basic types (because in the world of embedded 'static is king).

When they won't even boot into a Linux USB drive, make funeral preparations. Pack the dead body in a box and ship it to the hazmat recycling facility in the sky.

No no... you've got it all wrong. It's $75,000 total value for the drugs plus the porn.

So it's like $10,000 worth of drugs and $65,000 worth of porn. After all, you can cream a lot of porn into a USB drive these days.

For anyone doubting that the porn is worth that much, well... you'll just have to watch it and decide for yourself.

I've had my account stalked! Right in the middle of it I switched from Kbin to Lemmy (so I could try out the apps) and had to inform my stalker about the new account.

Frustrated and annoyed at having to look for my posts in many different places, they seem to have given up 🤷

This is a clear win for the Fediverse! I was able to switch instances and get subscribed to all my previous communities in no time at all while this doubled up stalking efforts 👍
