I read the German source article someone else posted and you're spot on. The thinner air is the main advantage for the reason you mentioned. But apparently snow-reflected light off the surrounding peaks is a significant factor as well. I find that interesting.

Commendable. I don't recommend it, but I commend it.

I don't think enjoying the movie somehow supports eugenics. The premise is about the correlation between education level and demographic trends, which is a real thing. The reproduction rate is well-known to be correlated with women's education specifically. Regarding eugenics, historically, the issue there was forced eugenics. That's a much different thing.

I think the article is worth a read. These authors are academics who are encouraging politicians to consider alternatives to capitalism and alternatives to growth. Jason Hickel for instance is awesome. Listen to an interview or two of his and you might find that he has a talent for putting to words what we've all been thinking.

Search for Amazon alternatives. People have compiled nice lists. Look for a local company to fulfill the need; it's better for shipping too. You'll likely notice that the stuff you buy, if even slightly more expensive, will be of much better quality. Use Amazon search to get ideas or compare stuff if you want and then buy local, secondhand or simply direct from the manufacturer.

Boycotting Amazon is that sweet middle ground you're looking for.

I found it a captivating film to watch. It was powerful and left its impression. I'm glad I saw it, no regrets at all, and I recommend it but I think one viewing suffices.
