Every one of these federated apps needs a strong meme feed. Just an endless stream of shitposts and funny content. Doesn't need to be doomscrolling, just needs to be a constantly available source of low effort junk food content

Reddit became an outrage factory for me in ways that other social media doesn't. Facebook et al would push political news at me that was meant to piss me off, but Reddit suggests me nothing but videos of people being assholes in public, cutting each other off in traffic, getting into fights, etc. It's like clockwork orange or some shit. I like that here, I can set my default algorithm to only subs (are they called subs?) that I subscribe to, in chronological order only.

I'm thinking of starting a friendica node for my city. I feel that a big problem with federated apps is that the audience isn't local enough; it's usually mostly tech-oriented people and doesn't have enough local services.

Deleted my fb account today. Instagram too. Hadn't really used it other than to talk to my parents. My mom quit too, so I told my dad we can chat over sms and use other video platforms. Been a Facebook user since 2010, a little sad that the site has degraded so much

Argentina's core problem is their previous Peronist government's unsustainable spending and command over the economy. They have spent themselves into a crisis several times due to their high Debt:GDP ratio

Millei is necessary for Argentina. Would be a bad president in America but that country desperately needed austerity

I think we need community again; I don't think that means religion necessarily. Some of the most shameless, godless people in America are evangelical christians
