Yeah it’s super weird, if you go to a specific forum for help, like cachyos or bazzite, the community is bearable, and sometimes very helpful without being rude. But if you go to a general forum and state you’re having any issues with Linux you’ll be downvoted to hell and told Linux is still better than windows.

Just so you know, there are some major security issues on 0.18. That’s why programming.dev immediately updated. The later bugs on 0.19 we were easily able to work around, while the security issues are major and should be resolved as soon as you can, as it affects every user.

Yikes. Literally everything you said here is a red flag and then someone went and provided links to your behavior to solidify those red flags. Please stop treating those that just try to help you in that manner. It’s incredibly rude and hurtful.

you're misreading the situation. Dessalines (one of the creators of lemmy) opened an issue asking for feedback on a feature. Nutomic (the second creator of lemmy) immediately closed the issue, with no feedback and no discussion. Dessalines opened it again (for good reason, there was no discussion on the topic) and then nutomic closed it again. This continued several times. I then commented about why the feature was useful, and also gave feedback as to why the issue shouldn't be closed. This was then marked off topic so that my comment wouldn't be seen (since it made nutomic look bad). I commented again and was immediately banned, no warning, explanation, or discussion, continuing the trend of one of the main lemmy devs not knowing how to work on a major OSS project.

So if you read the article the court case actually ended 13 years ago, the judge just never ruled on it. So it’s not even that the evidence is old (I mean it is, but that’s clearly not the reason here). There was a delay in the actual ruling after the case concluded. Really really strange.

My phone rang during the interview. I silenced it and apologized to the interviewer but carried on. After the interview I listened to the voicemail that my old boss had left. "When we offered you the job I had you mixed up with someone else. We hired the wrong person."

They called you and said that because they were being blamed for something on their end and it was going to make them feel better to say you should never have been hired. They didn’t make a mistake, they’re just trying to make themselves feel better. You did fine and you got a good learning experience while you were at it!

Glad you are enjoying it, though to be honest I do hope this grows to be a decently sized programming community. A lot of the threads are quite dead currently.
