Hetzner. Honestly every provider was cheaper. I literally didn't find a single provider that was even close to as expensive as Vultr. You can look at Vultr's deploy page here (might need to be logged in for that). For 16GB of RAM on any product, the minimum cost is $80 a month. We were paying $120+.

It's honestly crazy how expensive Vultr is. The servers might have better processors, didn't really check that, but all our performance depends on RAM and cores, so none of that really matters.

Also was able to get 64GB of ECC RAM on Hetzner. No clue if Vultr provided that, but they don't list it anywhere.

• I think one more, but can't remember it right now.

That’s pretty much all American Indians. Their governmental orgs literally have Indian in their name. My wife does most of her work on a reservation and they all want to be called Indian, not Native American

on the one hand, I completely agree with the maintainers stance here:

I think there are whole fields that don't deserve to be treated seriously, and it's a good thing to discriminate against them, e.g. homeopathy and astrology. I would expect a medicine-oriented website to openly warn its readers that homeopathy is a made-up pseudoscience, even if the firm believers in homeopathy felt this is inflammatory, and people selling sugar pills were upset about their reputation being tarnished.

but I do not agree with disinformation. Modifying a package to state it's deprecated is slimy and underhanded. You've already put warnings up everywhere. You do not need to resort to tactics like this.

disinformation is what got the world into the shitty state it's in. if you spread disinformation you're no better than the cryptoscammers that do the same.

I completely stopped using all those clients. We now just store the requests alongside the code in an http file and use the built in IntelliJ HTTP Client to make the call. No need for a separate program, integrates with your code, you can save responses to make sure they don't change, it's all stored in git. There's a ton of benefits and not many downsides.

Someone should make a PR to lemmy to allow adding alt text to the images, and a tip to suggest users add it if they upload an image
