Vim bindings are objectively both more productive and more ergonomic. So use evil mode anyway (doom emacs has it by default)

I can't give you a details 1:1 migration guide since I'm trying this myself and still don't know some stuff about emacs.

1. Doom is pretty good, start with it
2. Forget about other emacs stuff like email, irc client, games, wm, etc. Focus on editing and development part
3. Emacs has "modes" which are not like vim modes (insert, visual, normal). They give you new "abilities" that are related to that file or buffer you are working with.
4. Expect emacs to be much slower and more laggy than Neovim

Yeah browsers are the main GUI I use. w3m is great for reading blogs and those types of things but like you say, not the best experience for most things. And we can't really blame it on them, the modern web is horribly written most of the time.

It's great. Gets things done. I even have it for my office. About 20 people there.

I use custom ROM and fdroid myself. It's still a google product. Specially if you have ever developed for android you know you just have to play Google's games. The same way if you use Java you have to play Oracle's games. Or if you want to be an aws engineer (or whatever they are called) you have to... You get the gist.

Google has deeo control over tge android ecosystem and the only reason it's somewhat open source currently is the GPL licensing of the linux kernel. And they are limiting it day by day, while it's getting harder to install custom roms on newer phones.

The open source client doesn't mean jack shit dude. Telegram also has open source client. Your data lives on their servers not clients and also, even if the server code is open source, there are many ways for a backdoor and violations of privacy in the infrastructure. When you give up your phone number, there is no privacy.

Sometimes if feel like they are wasting their time and effort on things like terminal, text editor, etc. We dont need those in a DE. There are already some amazing terminals and text editors and such. They should focus most of their time on DE stuff like the window manager, dock,settings, etc. And create a great minimal DE with great functionality.
