The problem is that the noun class that is used to refer to you is based on your gender. As long as that is the case, grammatical gender will probably be the most apt name for the concept.

In fairness, the Church of England is hardly in the top tier of most horrible variants of Christianity.

Either a comma or parentheses are what would make the difference.

I will tell the students whom I married.

Now the students know who was at your wedding.

I will tell the students, whom I married.

I will tell the students (whom I married).

You're only telling something to the students that you married.
