CI/CD just became a lot harder when every container needs the users age verified. Not just configured, verified.

Windows media center was really really good for live TV.

How much innovation has there been in the ballpoint pen in the last decade?

Containerise your Virtual Machines!
Or... Virtual Machinerise your Containers?

I hope it's sensible with regards to tobacco derived products (ie nicotine).
I used vaping to quit smoking. And I'm now on the nicotine pouches and have quit vaping.
I know I'm just swapping 1 addiction for another, but each has significantly reduced the risk to me and those around me.

But if the pouches do get more expensive, I'm sure there's some nicorette or some other official/medical nicotine thing I can swap to. I assume they won't get a tax increase (cause if they do, then the tax is stupid)

Anyone not toeing the line will be declared unamerican.

Such a small step.

"Well yeh, of course these illegals that want to stay in our country will demand a court ruling. Our jails are better than their shitty country, so any delay for them is worthwhile, and we can't possibly process all of them" sorta rhetoric.

And suddenly shit like speeding (or speaking poorly of the government) can be declared unamerican, and the person - essentially - disappeared.

Uh, don't?
You want a Lemmy instance - that I presume you would want to be somewhat reliable - without doing anything? WiFi prioritises convenience over speed and reliability. So, things will randomly fail.

I guess pay for a Lemmy instance provider. Probably the easiest. But this is self hosting, and it sounds like you want a place to start and have chosen "hosting a Lemmy instance" as your learning ground.

Something like cloudflare tunnel will let you punch through a firewall without having to mess with network stuff.
A docker compose stack makes things as easy as they can be in such scenarios.
These are terms you can google "Lemmy docker compose cloudflare tunnel"

Here is 1 result: https://lemmy.world/post/299429

Here is a GitHub for Lemmy in docker compose https://github.com/Drakeyves/lemmy-docker-setup

This looks like it covers cloud flare in a compose stack: https://joelparkinson.me/self-hosting-with-cloudflare-tunnels-docker-compose/

Read through, learn docker compose, understand cloudflare & cloudflare tunnels

Docker is to servers, as flatpak is to desktop apps.
I would probably run away if i saw flatpak on a headless server

Kbin mods probably do clean up their own.
But their cleaning doesn't federate (ie a mod deleting a post won't issue a federation deletion request)

Client side hashing of a password just makes the hashed result the password, as far as security is concerned.
Unless there is some back-and-forth with the server providing a one-time-use salt or something to make each submission of the password unique and only valid once, at which point that might get snooped as well.
Better off relying on client certificates if you are that concerned
