There is no stupid. The 4 countries of the United Kingdom are akin to the states of the United States. No other country will ever recognize them, for one because they’re not even trying to be recognized as individual countries. Second because they literally define themselves as one country, not four. Third because they’re called countries but really they’re provinces or states, the UK just abuses the term country.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own governments and parliaments which control various devolved matters. I don’t know what common practice is regarding that adjustable support. We have one similar that’s holding up our entire basement ceiling lol, but it looks like it was built that way with the house. Doesn’t look good but I’m guessing it’s fine.

Zigbee is a low power mesh protocol, unlike WiFi which is a constant connection central hub protocol. Zigbee will use less power because the devices only wake up to send a message then go back into low power mode. They also have more “resiliency” because it a node goes down it is likely that the other devices will still be able to communicate to HA through a different route.
