Trying to make some roadmaps with task lists, kanban board, etc. With focus on open source.

Been learning for a year now but trying to get a more natural progression put together to hone my focus of learn/get deeper into this then this then that. To grow bit by bit by bit.

So please suggest anything for any of the below.

My focuses:

1. Helping grow/develop for open source game development/game mods (SuperTuxKart Evolved, The Smash-like, Beyond All Reason, Luanti, 0 A.D., etc)
2. Helping projects that need it gain funding (OpenCollective, NLNet, NGI Zero Core, Liberapay)
3. Helping people find other people for their own projects, and for each others projects
4. Helping grow community, and visibility/knowledge of open source in world (Through growing certain parts of open source communities focused on Videos, Animation, Articles, etc. Even general outreach too)
5. Blogging/Marketing to help projects get more eyes on them (Ghost?)
6. Help out however I can for Operating systems (Kali Linux, Postmarket, Linux Mint, Bazzite, PopOS_Cosmic, Kubuntu, etc)
7. Support various Appimages/flatpaks development (eventually the new Linux standard)
8. To help write documentation (Future after being experienced)
9. Helping to develop open-schematics open-source vehicles/public transit
10. Currently you all deserve funding from all the effort put in over decades, years, months (depending on how long you been around). So I want to help out to get you all funded. I've enjoyed my journey using open source stuff now I want to contribute back however I can not just with donations.
11. Eventually to get my own donations pipeline but eh later on.
12. To get work in Linux/Open Source somehow overtime in future. That would be a dream come true.

Programming languages, I want to do small projects for, to learn:

Rust Python HTML PHP (Web Dev) Lua (Modding) GDScript

What else would you recommend for fundamentals that I am missing to learn? Or for more in depth learning for any of this? (Whether it is for specific focuses: Software Engineering/DevOps/Game Dev/etc, certain fundamentals: Agile, etc , or for specific tools: Git, etc)

Any online/in-person groups I should join to get to know the community too overtime?

Hopefully this grows to be an additional resource others can use too. I ask here for up to date stuff, and since it feels better to talk to a person with experience than just relying on searching. Which I am still searching alongside this just figured I would ask on top of that.

I want to be helpful for Linux/Open Source by maintaining/creating. I won't burn myself out and will start slow to get deep into each. Just I want to help out however I can overtime and be useful. I may be one person but overtime I'd like to inspire more people to help with those focuses too.

Hoping many European Union people, all of us, keep pushing for these to happen too by adding these onto what we want. Also this list will evolve overtime.

Open Source Related//

• Making proper full open source be one of the primary objectives across the whole EU. With GPL being a big focus
• Mandating that Apple needs to allow open-source apps, and being able to change OS fully on Apple Devices. So not being locked down in every way. Same for Android to reverse their upcoming action to lock it down.
• Allowing people to put Linux on any of their devices, phones and tablets, and vehicles
• Suggested by another user in DM: Having Android and IOS owned by EU people and made fully open-source with GPL-license. So we know the OS'es aren't doing anything shady and have full control over our own devices
• Making it where Car Manufacturers need to give documentation and have the software/OS be fully open-sourced so people can change/modify the CarOS to make sure it is not tampered with at all by anybody and to tune it as needed/wanted
• Having JavaScript be owned by the people and fully open-sourced in Europe (Not trademarked, and kept locked down. This is holding the Web back a lot)

Internet Related//

• Making Internet Service Providers, and the infrastructure be owned by the people through cooperation's, etc be more commonplace

Device/Vehicle Related//

• Suggested by another person: Size of the phone/tablet/laptop/car/other vehicle types batteries size to be standardized so we can still get a replacememt battery for our device/vehicle even if its been a decade or 2
• Suggested by another person: Standardizing components of a car to be more repairable

Phone Related//

• Suggested by another person in DM: Making Phone OEM's and then Tablet OEM's within Europe. As I hope Asian, African, and Latin countries will do too
• Edit based on another person's suggestion: Mandating phones to have a microSD card slot, and 1TB as a storage option to purchase
• Mandating banks and other service providers to provide apks directly or through F-Droid, and Accrescent
• Suggested by another person: Making Samsung use fastboot instead of Odin because the fact that you have to basically use leaked tools from Samsung just to flash an Android ROM is insane.

Also they should make their activation codes in English because the only sentence I know in Chinese is Nihao.

Other//

• Having affordable online education available for people around the world to make use of. Can just be the basics up to uni. Having it be where the education is able to be used by the student in their own and neighboring countries only. Certain countries cough cough USA for example cough really need it. (We affect the world and they affect us. Let's save ourselves future headaches by helping undo some problems where we can. Illiteracy, and no morality being huge problems in various parts of the world that directly affects many things, people/countries worldwide, and various decisions that can have/have had many consequences. A simple solution is education to help individuals become better people, and to be educated in general)

For Funsies//

• Videogames have to work offline (Ubisoft/EA/Etc for example)
• Videogames must offer the ability to run community-run servers when the game has shut down
• Personal Suggestion: Videogames and Software that become abandonware need to be open-sourced

Things get better when we all collectively get things done. We will get to what we all want that are beneficial to all European Union people!! Problem-solving and unity makes anything happen!

Edit 2: The overall encompassing theme is ownership. The people deserve to own what they use. For what they already own, and new things they will soon own.

Edit: This can double as a suggestions post for other people new to contributing to Open Source/GNU Linux/Game Deving

My Goals:

0. Want to socialize and get to know other Open Source/Game Dev/Software Engineer/DevOps/Linux people. Even if I know people just online. I'm a newbie to it all. Are there online groups for any of that in say Discord servers, forums, or elsewhere?

1. Want to help work on existing Open Source Games. These are some I have in mind to help where I can:

• Unciv: To make Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Fallout mods for this game.
• SuperTux (Some mods of new worlds, enemies, storylines, and adding mascots from Open Source community that have not been added yet)
• OpenMW (To build it out with the team. Same for new land mods to add lands outside of Tamriel: Akavir, Thras, Yokuda, etc)
• OpenFNV/OpenOblivion/OpenFO3 (A person is working on them since OpenMW is able to pull data from those games so very possible just lots of work to be done)
• GTA Project Eagle (To help Dev it, and then help to bring it to phones in a team once it is in a completed state)
• Beyond All Reason (Love RTS games and well I don't know how yet but would love to make something for it)
• Xonotic (Maps and shooting sounds: pew pew pew)

2. To make some original IP smaller mobile games that are actually fun to play on side to hopefully fund my ability to spend more time game deving overtime. To learn more with practice building smaller games from start to finish solo, and maybe with others potentially. Android/Linux Mobile/Linux PC as the focuses for those smaller games, and the bigger games in future

3. To build out some open source teams, that can continue even when I leave the teams, to build new open source small-sized games, and later medium/large-sized game projects. Have lots in mind:

Tux Party Revamp game, TuxWorld (3D-Platformer with Multiplayer), Old School Final Fantasy-esque, Tux Call of Duty Zombies-like, etc

4. To build out Open Source/Linux communities however I can:

Growing the UI/UX, Art, Animation, GIF, Social Media portions of the community for building up outreach of Open Source/Linux around the world. Those are some avenues to expand reach to get more funding, users, and new devs.

Helping to build up new/existing platforms to help encourage collaboration on projects, and highlight needed funding so they can be improved upon. To help projects that need more of either funding, volunteers, or both to get them.

So with that in mind what do you all recommend I do to start off? Please and thanks for any suggestions! Want to start small and properly get myself going on here.
