"Skins are not the point of fortnite" You're absolutely right. The point of fortnite is to make (BILLIONS) a Season and 37 Seasons later @ 40 BILLION DOLLARS and counting gives these EVIL Companies no incentive to produce legitimate products.
Gone are the days were Companies actually made (Good Honest Video Games). Now companies hire behavioralists/psychologists to manipulate kids and casuals alike into spending, Not Playing. Not only that Fortnite extorts their payer base as well, which lead to a Lawsuit by the FTC:

So (Not So) Epic "Games" are not "epic" at all! And companies like this are a poor representation of what our Gaming Hobby use to be. These are no longer Video Games. Whats "Free" when the point of said (APP) is locked behind pay-walls!? Modern day "gaming" sucks, paying for content that was once earned through gameplay is NOT Rewarding nor Gaming, it's essentially Online Shopping. Fortnite is a Freemium Application which utilizes (In app purchase mechanics/ psychology) to lure in 'Payer$'. Particularly the Youth which are more impressionable.
Why don't you do some research on your beloved Applications:
