I was applying for disability but i am not qualified because even though i have worked multiple jobs in my life i never held any longer than 6 months besides one (8 months). i've been told i don't have enough work credits to qualify for disability. but.... my disability is the reason i can't work? how is that supposed to work?

i thought that me not having the ability to work is what would qualify me for disability.

i know the application process in the US is designed to be confusing and inconvenient and difficult but I literally cannot wrap my head around this or find a good explanation.

I'm going to get on SSI instead but I am pretty sure the payout is lower and I have multiple disabilities so like.. what the heck?

I honestly don't get it. I keep seeing people just being so hateful and I don't understand why. Honestly? Is it that difficult to not be hateful? Please someone explain this to me where it somehow makes sense...as I genuinely do not understand it.

It seems to me like the kind of thing one would take refuge in exhile for.

I recently saw this video in which two people guessed dictators based on discription and one of them didn't know who Timur was. So I wondered wether it is a common thing for americans to not know the Turco-Mongol conqueror also known as tamerlane

Original Title: There's traffic jam for vessels at the Panama channel. Can parts of the crew of the waiting vessels somehow leave the ship to buy stocks or do anything at land until they can go on? How? Do they have little boats on board?

I have an idea which I think is a winner, in the domain of generating energy from ocean waves. There are other wave energy converters but none of them are "the" one to harness energy from ocean waves, and I think I've found "the" one.

If this is true, then it's a huge deal. If it isn't true, it won't necessarily be obvious right away. That associated risk with an invention is the reason why people get patents and then develop models for hopefully low costs, and then fight the battles over ownership and unobviousness later when it has been proven to be a winner.

I don't have a patent yet - I'm employed right now with a contract which says my company owns everything I do. If I wanted to get a patent I'd either have to ask permission from my company (who knows, might lead to legal troubles), or quit my job (not desirable) and say that I came up with the idea after I quit.

But what if I want to sell the idea before going through all of that? Is there a way to navigate all of this with just NDAs? Can I go to an investment group and ask them to buy my idea for big bucks without a patent? If I'm willing to sell it for 1% of its actual value surely there has to be a way to do this.

My brother is a fairly well known artist in my area. He is a sculptor and a complete piece of shit.

My wife loves him and has always supported him. She would show everyone his sculpture he made for her and people would buy from him. Her sculpture is one of the very first ones he made after he got out of rehab for the millionth time.

He was at our house a month ago and he saw his sculpture. He said that he was embarrassed by how shitty it was compared to what he makes now. He asked if he could take it and rework it to make it better.

My wife agreed because she is an amazing and trusting woman.

He sold it. He sold it for $15,000 which wasn't enough to pay off the people that he owed money to. He could have asked me for the money and I would have paid it. Instead he broke my wife's heart and I fucking hate home for doing that.

I went to see him in the hospital and told him he was dead to me and to never come near my family again.

My mom called me to scream at me for putting more stress on him when he is in such a vulnerable point in his life. I told her that if she ever mentioned him to me again I would tell my kids to choose between her and me.

I know it seems extreme but you have not idea what this did to my wife.

My father called me to talk about it and said my mother was inconsolable. I told him that his other son stole not just a shitty piece of art but my wife's belief in his redemption. I said that if my mother insisted on fucking with me over her piece of shit son I would do what I said.

I am so angry right now that I'm not really thinking straight. I need perspective.

Short bit of context:

My best friend I played competitive soccer with from the age of 10, all the way through high school is getting married to his high school sweetheart (finally after 10 years lol). My best friend and I chose the same college to play soccer at, and went to college for 4 years together. This isn’t like oh hey a friend I knew in high school… we regularly hang out and talk, he’s basically part of my family.

We have another friend we played soccer with who is a very successful GM who opens night clubs and bars in places like Vegas. He’s opening one in Salt Lake, and that’s where the bachelor party is. It’s a bunch of former high school and college teammates meeting up for my friends wedding. The actual wedding is in Kansas City.

My wife doesn’t want me going because, “no.” I’ve asked several times why she’s so opposed to it, and she said “because I don’t want you to.” Meanwhile, she’s going to a mermaid themed bachelorette party at the end of the month in Florida for someone’s she’s know for 4 weeks. She finally said “I don’t trust your friends.” And I simply said you’ve never met them… she said “yeah and idk how they are so I don’t want you hanging out with them.”

These aren’t 21 year old beer chugging frat boys in college looking for their next hook up. They’re dads, with wives and kids. We’re going to have a good time, and there’s nothing I’ve ever done that would make her think I’d go hook up with some chick at a bachelor party…

Am I over reacting? I’m the best man in his wedding, and she doesn’t want me going because she can’t go, she works. But she’s capable of going to a bachelorette party that’s mermaid themed with literal male strippers. I don’t care like it’s not that big of a deal to me with her stuff, but it feels very double standard.

Okay, weird story. But I basically accidentally bought deodorant for women (am a man). I didn't even notice it at first -- the scent wasn't feminine nor masculine. Kinda like this sweet fruit/berry kinda thing. Then when I realized it was deodorant for women, I could really uh, smell the "femininity" in the scent?

I apologize if this is weird, but is it noticeable, or should a man, wear deodorant for women? Not if it's "okay," but would it be a bit odd?

The title says it all really. I have been seeing this guy for a little while and since he mentioned his type (only black girls) i’ve been wondering if this is a red flag. I am black female and he is a white male. I am not sure if i’m making something out of nothing but I am nervous it may be fetishised but I don’t know how to determine this.

Is it bad that I bit my arm and hand? I don’t really do it out of stress and I also bite on other things and I’m not breaking skin. Ig I do it bc my teeth hurt and presser on them feels nice, I do bite on my fingers when I’m stressed but I never break skin.

I often hear stories of people who went through incredible transformations by getting into great shape and other stories of people overcoming addiction. I’ve never really heard of a comparison between the two paths but I am wondering if they both require the same amount of resiliency and mental toughness or if one is harder than the other.

So this might be strangest thing I have posted on here, but I would love to get some input from other people because my husband and I cannot figure it out. In the middle of the night we both woke up to a VERY strong smell of garlic. I thought it was just me but he asked me if I smelled it too so obviously I said yes. So we went looking to see where it could be coming from. Even smelled the cat. Nothing. But then the smell instantly disappeared. Truly only lasted maybe 30 seconds. Anyone have any ideas on what happened?

For those saying "Wales is part of the Great Britain", I think we are all aware of that British Royalties are English.

I went to the ER yesterday. I have found that I'm dealing with a UTI and passing two kidney stones. My period is supposed to start today. The ER tested me for pregnancy but didn't tell me if I was pregnant. If I was, wouldn't they have told me?
