Except that I'm actually on a waitlist to get New Siri. And now I'm wondering if I will again be forced to abandon Australian Siri when I'm off the waitlist.

Other than the white on slightly-lighter-white Mac ~~menus~~ toolbars, the thing that drives me nuts on the iPhone is that it never feels like I’m really pushing buttons. It feels like I’m stabbing at a blob of gel and hoping that I hit it the right way to get what I want. And oftentimes I don’t. It’s maddening.

FYI, this blog post includes the best gif you'll see all year. OK, the best gif related to criticizing user interfaces.

They are totally in keeping with the theme of the community, so I don’t entirely understand.

Pretty fascinating watch. I’ve been pondering trying a local LLM on my M4 Pro Mac Mini.

Just got the AirPod Pro 3 and just like a previous poster said they sound like shit, I mainly listen to podcasts and unlike my 1st gen APPs it sounds like someone speaking into a badly setup microphone, rather than just someone speaking to you.

I tried to update the firmware from 8A357 to 8B25 but found out that for some reason they need iOS 26 for the firmware update to work, so me with my iPX with the latest available iOS 16 is just SOL.

Why when all AirPods need to update firmware via an iOS/MacOS device do they need the latest version? Planned obsolescence is the only logical conclusion.

The icons in the quick look charge indicator don’t tell you which is the Left, Right or even the case!!! (Picture)

Finally when I walk more than 3m away from my laptop the pods screech in my ear as lose Bluetooth connection and refuse to reconnect automatically. I’m sure all of these issues are fixed in firmware updates but apparently I need to spend 4 hours traveling to and waiting for a Genius Bar appointment to update the firmware.

Looks like these are going back and I’ll be looking for a different option for earphones, and maybe it’s time to move away from iPhone too.

They’re pretty great, and they are more comfortable on my giant ears than my girlfriend’s Beats over ear phones. The noise cancelling is also better than the Beats. That said, the Beats still sound pretty darn good, and the Sonys don’t sound and fit better enough to justify spending 2.5 times what the Beats over ears cost. Just my 2.5 cents. I realize this is not technically Apple whinging, but I figure there’s probably a decent number of people here who like headphones and audio 🤷‍♂️.

They sound like shit, the noise cancellation is disturbing (the other modes are also unsettling), and the left one hurts my ear hole after only a few minutes. I already printed the return label. This is the first time I have ever returned an Apple product.

Pretty much the title.

I have a large library of music that I've ripped from CDs. I don't really have space left on my macbook air, but I have a bunch of space on my iPhone still. Is there any way to load that music into my iPhone's version of iTunes without keeping it stored in duplicate on my laptop?

Because as far as I can tell, it’s a gimmicky dumpster fire, and I’m pretty sure everything is worse. And my battery life is awful. I looked into rolling the OS back, and apparently it’s not feasible. I may switch back to my iPhone 13 as my daily driver.

I thought maybe it was something to do with Apple Intelligence, so I turned it off. And the luminous bulging persisted.

I use a lot of programming and sef hosting things at home. I have to enter passwords and write basic text files which have to be accurately read by all devices.

I, for the life of me, could not manage to solve a problem about a password. I tried many forums and what not and eventually a person on one of the forum said that my syntax is incorrect. I was so confused because I have done the exact same thing hundreds of times and it never caused an issue.

What I wanted to write was (quotes are a part of it) 'xyz'. This is what my PC writes. iOS decides that it should be ‘xyz’. There is a subtle difference in the quotes if you look carefully.

I wanted to trash by iPhone and buy an Android so bad at that moment.

Anyways that setting can be changed by turning off smart punctuation in keyboard settings. But the point is trashy defaults with no clear communication about it.

This whole post might be stupid and petty but it is pushing me to stop using everything Apple.

IMHO, Voyager has a pleasant viewing experience and a plethora of ways to customize your feed (and scrolling). The dev @aeharding@vger.social is quick to assist with questions and bugs.

Artic has more detailed information on the Sidebar and I appreciate that content is embedded (it’s just aesthetically pleasing to me, anyway). Hopefully, it hasn’t been abandoned.

What’s your favorite?

i’ve never made a Mega thread before, and I have no idea how to do it, but would anyone be interested in chatting and/or bitching about our experiences with this liquid glass nonsense?

first thing I’ll pointed out that you may notice is that it has a nasty habit of not capitalizing the first letter in the first sentence that I type in a text input box. to clarify, it will type it, but then when I submit it changes it to a lowercase. I can’t honestly fathom this one and I don’treally want to think too deeply about it.
