I hope you find something suitable. What's happened is really, really fucked up.

The power imbalance between landlord and renter in this country is insane. It breeds a contempt for renters.

Australia could be a paradise, but instead we're desperately trying to find somewhere to live. For a 1st world country to be using housing as a commodity is repugnant.

Thanks mate. I agree that the obsession with real estate as investment and this rent-seeking economy has been deleterious to the fabric of society on so many levels. It is not good for anyone's psyche...

I'm increasingly convinced that the only real way I'll earn enough decent coin is to live with family for a while rather than upskill/work harder. Not easy living with them (and they're interstate), but easier than sharehousing with strangers at this age.

It's otherwise so futile, pissing away so much of my hard work just to pay someone else's mortgage and taxes.
