The cost range of my hotels usually means that those hangars have loops at the top not hooks, and can't be removed from the closet

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 98 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Even the ones with hoops instead of hooks can be removed (in my experience, anyway). Super awkward otherwise.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This has been my experience as well

I believe I did stay at one property where they weighed cost of the inconvenience as lower than the cost of the theft - completely locked to the rod

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bring a set of tools and take the hangers and the rod too, just for spite

[–] michael_palmer@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just one simple trick. Hotel owners hate this.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Usually in a place that classy it's so you can't hang yourself.

I've also always thought that was a cost/theft issue, but I wonder if its also to prevent people from trying to use the hook-type hangers from hanging things from fire suppression sprinkler heads.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

Good point. I recently stayed somewhere with a bolted sign by the sprinkler heads that said not to hang anything on them, lol. Makes me think it happens...a lot.

Keep a couple clothespins/binder clips in your bag?

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I don't always carry my BDSM kit with me though. Sometimes a business trip is only a business trip.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

You're clearly in the wrong field, then ;p

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Depends on your business :)

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Just bring a pair of side cutters with you. Snip snip and you’re good to go!

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Much simpler than bringing a clothespin. Or binder clip.

[–] dufkm@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'd never go to a hotel without my leatherman with me.

Ever tried flying with it? I wanted to take mine on a flight but didn't want to lose it so left it at home. Would they allow it on planes?

[–] tektite@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you're talking about tsa: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/multi-tools

In general, you are prohibited from traveling with sharp objects in your carry-on bags. Multi-tools (multipurpose tools) with knives of any length are prohibited. Please pack these items in your checked bags. Multi-tools (multipurpose tools) with scissors less than 4 inches may be placed in carry-on bags.

but don't forget (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint.

[–] Juvyn00b@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yup, the last line holds true. Had a mini multi tool taken because I forgot about it in my bag - it definitely has less than a 4 inch blade.

[–] tektite@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

It's the scissors that can be less than four inches; it says no knives of any length.

There's people who steal the curtains from a hotel they paid for?

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

Bring one with you. Or a binder clip, bag clip, etc etc
