The privacy vulnerability in a VPN service is the VPN provider. There have always been suspicions that some of these companies are involved with state agencies and you've got Proton's CEO kissing the fascist ring, figure it out.

It's not impossible, but it's challenging to imagine that this news directly impacts the guarantees they claim. In a space like this all they have is reputation and respect. They've lost respect today, but I don't see this as a ding to reputation personally.
