Rules

  1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
  2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Apparently they didn't pay for their registration renewal. Watch out for a flood of displaced tankies, you can usually find them by saying fuck Putin, or fuck Xinnie the pooh, and they'll just put themselves so you can block them.

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 44 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Paid registration renewal is inherently capitalist, you deranged westoid.

spoilerHow'd I do?

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 39 points 2 days ago (1 children)

you forgot to add at least 26 weirdly sized gifs and emojis

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

And also forgot to yell at them for not reading all 780 pages of theory before commenting.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 11 points 2 days ago

.7/10. Close in spirit, but not cringe enough. And you didn't follow it with an image reaction.

Not that bad tbh I believed it for a sec

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Damn, in the comments people are suggesting switching to domains like tankie.cn or tankie.su ?

They are really trying to positively reclaim the word tankie aren’t they?

[–] tree_frog@lemm.ee 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Y'all have such a hate hardon for hexbear you can't hear the irony.

And if they did change it to something like tanki.cn, it would be an ironic jab at y'all who already think that anyway.

[–] GrundlButter@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I have a hard time taking authoritarians seriously, whether they are left wing or right wing.

Don't get me wrong, sinophobia or russophobia for the sake of it is just dumb, but like the other guy said, if we get banned for having a different opinion on those country's dictators than they do... Maybe they should just stay in their safe space by themselves, isolated. Just like Russia and China should be sanctioned and isolated for their imperialist bullshit, and just like America should be for its imperialist bullshit.

Also, if they adopt a .cn tld, they'll lose their domain name again. Not even China wants anything to do with them, hexbear was blocked in China haha.

[–] YarrMatey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Hexbear was banned because there is a crypto on https://hexbear.io/ and China banned all crypto. China does not actually care about lemmy so much that they blocked hexbear.

[–] GrundlButter@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 18 hours ago

TIL, thank you. Though the reason why China has banned them doesn't lessen the irony here.

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Hard not to when I got banned for mentioning China has a market economy.

[–] tree_frog@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

So you got banned for making a bad faith argument rooted in western brainworms?

Yeah that sounds like hexbear.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

The standard take on the PRC is that it has a Socialist Market Economy, so I doubt that.

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Really? Not according to the modlog.

Alt Account — Blahaj is not federated with Hexbear.

Though sorry to say I can’t give you the username of that alt since I use it to post personal info I don’t want linked with my main (this account).

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Omg I thought you were joking!

(Were you joking? If so, IT'S ALSO REAL! 😂)

multiple examples but here's a good one: https://chapo.chat/post/4468531/5913648

Note your standard search function won't work from the home location bc the new instance isn't federated yet.

Would make blocking their users a lot easier, at least! It's like self-reporting that you're not to be taken seriously.

[–] chickentendrils@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Capitalism sure isn't making everything worse all the time and ruining the world wtih zero meaningful incremental reforms amounting to shit or anything 😙

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago

I never claimed otherwise, but go on, chief!

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

or just look for their obnoxious emojis, which are full color photos of some gross asshole.

Im honestly annoyed by this as I have over 30 communities on hexbear blocked. id really not like to have to do it again

[–] ech@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Good news - you can block entire instances on current Lemmy. No need to go community by community.

Bad news - it does nothing about the users. You'll still see their comments and posts elsewhere.

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 0 points 1 day ago (3 children)

yeah I read this, and have tried, a bunch of times, to block hexbear on Summit, but it doesn't seem to work.

[–] YarrMatey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 19 hours ago

I've blocked a bunch of instances via Summit and never had a problem. I've blocked non-english and NSFW/porn instances. You could try posting in the community !summit@lemmy.world. It's been working for be since before lemmy made blocking instances an actual feature.

[–] Martineski@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

I started using the app few days ago, in which way are you blocking the instance? Because AFAIK there are 2 ways to block but I haven't tried the second one.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm assuming summit is an app? Try using it through the webui.

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

yes its an app.

I dont wanna use the webui (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Maybe make a post on their community, not a subreddit, that would be stupid, this isn't reddit, !summit@lemmy.world

[–] Martineski@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

I mean, just opening the website once isn't awfully inconvinent imo.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

You can block entire instances.
