Haven't seen any of these lil guys in the last 8 years 😔
About the same for me, but I saw one about 3 weeks ago. I was so excited because it had been so long, no one else seemed to care as much.
Are these limited to certain states? I don't think I've ever seen one of these...

A similar golden beetle shows up in south America. Anyone has the scientific name?

you are referring to this Charidotella sexpunctata
No, it's not like this shiny carapace, it's rather satin. The elytra is light brown with a golden-green shimmer, and the thorax and head are of a darker green-brown.
there seems to be other charidotella species in South america could be one of those.
