Despite a historic recruitment drive that added 12,000 agents in recently, the agency's administrative backbone appears to be buckling, with employees desperate enough to turn to the Reddit to detail their struggles.

In raw, unfiltered Reddit posts now spreading beyond law-enforcement circles, ICE officers describe going a month or more without a paycheque, struggling to secure medical cover for sick children, and watching promised bonuses quietly stall.

bruh:

Currently in ICE ERO position awaiting my background to clear , I haven’t spoke to an investigator anymore ever since my interview for the SF86 , came to find out my in-laws are illegal and they are awaiting work permits. This is a F up situation because i cannot control nor is my responsibility to look after other people life or decisions but yeah yeah i know it fucks me up in my career because yeah i married my wife which she is a US citizen and bond with the family. But back in 2017 when I met her you don‘t ask hey do you have papers ? are your parents here legally ? Some BS man …… now I have the job i always wanted , I do what i always dream about but theres always a BUT in this F life man which pisses me off. anybody had a situation like this ??

First, imagine this being your dream job. Then, imagine being mad about this situation.

That's a nifty tool.

Even lets you see the comments. Here's what he said in there:

What did they say man because i wasn’t aware of this situation , almost got into it with the wife….. i told her this could fuck up our future. I Dont live with my inlaws nor harbor them or none of that BS. Just came to find this out 2 days ago , so excited about this career barely 25 yrs old and was ready to eat the world.

These people are disgusting. He was looking forward to being a Nazi more than anything. Probably would've deported his wife's parents without a second thought if he happened to be assigned to that area.

Sir, we have a special assignment for you to test if you're up to the job.

Too bad it doesn’t also let the subreddit be spammed. Would be a nice treat.

I keep telling people that conservatives fucking love the idea of killing brown people. They literally fantasize about it.

I have heard about it from the mouth of the horse. People just don't get it.

You cannot convince me there is a place in society for these people.

There is a place under society for those people.

This was extremely common in Nazi Germany. They all had a few of their "good Jews" who they personally knew and didn't want disappeared, even among the Nazi upper echelons.

Jesus, you read the responses to that and half of them either harbored undocumented or their spouse just got a green card. How much footgunning do you need to commit?

Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
