IMO, I would have been more worried that a comment like that would invite some lunatic to try to shoot up the next concert as revenge for the insult to their orange god king. Can understand the idea of not wanting to invite the front line of democracy to their next venue. Cowardly, but understandable.
We cannot all live in fear and silence. It only creates more suffering if we do that.
