Ran into this as well when I joined. IIRC I fixed it by specifying the comment's language. Not sure why it behaves like that though. And sometimes it seems to change back to "undetermined" apparently.
we believe this should become much less of a problem and/or much more intuitive with lemmy's 0.17.3 release, which we intend to hop over to tomorrow (we're on 0.17.2 and usually delay upgrades for a few days to avoid any serious bugs)
