I think that's the best part about dbz and dbz discussions. Oh, you think that because you assume goku is smart and a hero. He is really good at fighting. He's the best at it, no one has fought more uphill battles than him. He knows his shit when it comes to fighting. Everything else? Don't expect anything from that guy
The fact that he managed to have kids, even with Chi-Chi's guidance, is a bloody miracle.
Honestly i suspect it was a 'Goku was told to lay there and not move until given permission' situation more than anything else.
