Guess how my aunt's cat died.

[-] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 34 points 3 months ago

Yeah I would get them out immediately and not be nice about it to scare them from doing it again.

yeah this one of my worst nightmares/intrusive thoughts that can absolutely wreck my day when I get them

Yeah, those rascals love to give anxiety all the time.

My washing machine is always closed and my cats have no interest in it. Even still I always check where they both are before turning it on, a sense of dread grows on me every time even though I never had an accident, I don't know why.

I don't know about your cats but mine have shown no interest in wet laundry, or dirty laundry, only fresh warm dry laundry. But since my building's laundry room is in the basement I don't really have experience with having a machine in the house.

When I had kids I would fold the laundry down there, for a few quiet moments of feeling organized. Now I bring it up immediately and chirrup as I dump it on the spare bed so the cats can enjoy it first.

My cats will happily sit in a hamper with dirty clothes, they really like new surfaces to sit on in grneral. We have a ahem cleanup towel and our big orange loves to sit on that thing for some reason lmao.

But not looking in the dryer first?

[-] starlinguk@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

She always checked. Until that one time she forgot.

She buried the cat and dug her up again in the middle of the night because she just couldn't believe she was dead (she was, obviously).

There just no excuse for this

[-] amnesiaftw@ani.social 3 points 3 months ago

Yep my elementary school teacher’s cat died in the dryer too. Hearing that as a 5 year old, I have always kept in mind cats must stay away from the dryer.

I remember reading astory about a old lady who was hard of hearing and hard of seeing put her cat in the dryer accdentally one day when the cat was fooling around or sleeping in there...

I will not retype out the rest of that story. .Ever. Fuck no.
