Israeli forces set off large blast in south Lebanon

The Israeli military carried out a large explosion in the southern Lebanese town of Kfar Tebnit on Sunday, Lebanese media reported.

Local sources told al-Mayadeen that the explosion was conducted by the Israeli military in the town.

No further information was provided on the target, the extent of damage, or whether there were any injuries.

There was no immediate comment from Lebanese authorities or the Israeli military on the incident. The blast comes amid repeated Israeli ceasefire breaches in southern Lebanon.ย

Why not "Israel bombs Lebanon"? ๐Ÿค”

Quirky translation + at time of reporting it was unclear what even caused it, since they were already in the area they probably set off an explosive device, whereas "Israel bombs Lebanon" might imply air raids, which were reported separately.

This is all the most closely-linked pro-Hezbollah news outside of just posting Central Military Media directly (they repost it), but they're not consistent with phrasing. Al-Manar, PressTV don't 100% of the time refer to it as "the illegal Zionist entity" or "the third unprovoked war of imperialist aggression".

Ah. Because my passive-voice "Spidey sense" "tingled" but then I looked up the news agency and was like "huh? Why would this agency be doing passive voice on this article?". So I thought it was worth asking.

Could also be that they're reiterating Lebanese media directly, they do love to use passive voice. It's worth pointing out. I think the most neoliberal Iranian news source I have is Iran Chamber Newsroom (which has been down since the war restarted a while back).
