Zohran Mamdani has turned down an 18% pay rise that would have brought his salary to $305,800 (£227,645). “I haven’t knocked on anyone’s door in New York City and they’ve said their concern is that the mayor makes too little,” he told reporters on Thursday. The same day, members of the city council voted to approve a pay raise for themselves and other officials.

I have zero issues with him taking a $258k salary for doing a job that literally places his life in danger of violent conservatives while he keeps hitting home runs for average New Yorkers and setting an example for the Democrat party.
