it is reported that the bridge was designed in such a way in order to slow traffic and allow drivers and pedestrians to "appreciate panoramic views to one of the most beautiful and pristine coastal landscapes in Uruguay.". But extra (kilo)meters for the pedestrians which use the bridge on regular basis.
