There's potential users there, and ff isn't going to lose any users by rejoining.

I just can't imagine anyone is going to change to chrome because ff started posting to x.

Not really. The soft forks are more like pre-packaged configurations than separate browsers. If ff dies all the forks die.
I've used LibreWolf for years now but I still consider myself to be using firefox.
Just lost one now. How many did it gain?
