*most humans dont care. I'd say 90% have zero clue of the fediverse, and do not realize why big tech centralization is horrendous for humanity.
Tell me how many folks have converted to Lemmy or matrix or peertube from their corpo counterparts. Of my hundreds of fb friends, I have 2 that I had to basically twist their arm to use signal. 2. The rest go "oh haha idk what that is maybe I'll look at it but everyone is already on fb I can't leave".
Its a losing battle and I've basically stopped trying. People refuse to change and will give all their info and data away without a thought.
Pretty much. We're out in our own little bubble here. Which is both good and bad.
Basically, yes. That's why the issue is with lawmakers, and going to shitty platforms with the excuse of "it's to reach the people there" is like when "left" parties shift to the far right to try to reach their voters base.
Sorry but your comment is rather silly. You want to see this change on a legislative level? Okay sure, so do I, that would be great. But you also don't want to reach out to people so that they care to make the change? Either because they culturally care or to write their reps. You should realize that those are connected and its why my fellow lemms don't get to make real change as they not pragmatic about results.
I understand why you and others here feel that way. You are not wrong, but you are also implicitly surrendering your cause without firing a shot.
The people that understand are already here. The people that need to hear this are on Reddit/Twitter. Granted many don't care. Just as many also don't know to care one way or the other. By not reaching out to where they could be they will never know and become your ally. Therefore you have surrendered your cause as no one knew they could join it.
People have been screaming about these things for decades.
What was before coming from lack of awareness, is now caused by an increasingly wide gap between "sides" and it's becoming an ideological war.
The ones that are not convinced by now, are convinced by the opposite side and aren't going to switch. We need to stop thinking that we need to increase our numbers or whatever, and just act. Let's not fool ourselves, a handful of moronic nazis able to change the world for the worst, it doesn't take that many people to actually change stuff. It just requires stubbornness.
True. Guess what tho, not everyone heard you then and there are new people today that have not heard.
