"We've decided to mingle with Nazis again"

It's important to use clear language.

[–] wraptile@fosstodon.org 38 points 3 weeks ago

@owenfromcanada it's such a low risk principle. If they break on this imagine what other things they break on. Completely untrustworthy and incompetent organization.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Idk it depends. Can't evangelize the better way here because we know, those at X might not. FOSS is still a niche.

*most humans dont care. I'd say 90% have zero clue of the fediverse, and do not realize why big tech centralization is horrendous for humanity.

Tell me how many folks have converted to Lemmy or matrix or peertube from their corpo counterparts. Of my hundreds of fb friends, I have 2 that I had to basically twist their arm to use signal. 2. The rest go "oh haha idk what that is maybe I'll look at it but everyone is already on fb I can't leave".

Its a losing battle and I've basically stopped trying. People refuse to change and will give all their info and data away without a thought.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Pretty much. We're out in our own little bubble here. Which is both good and bad.

@InternetCitizen2 @owenfromcanada and to whom are they evangelizing on twitter? I'd genuinely like to see their growth campaign here because 100$ says it's non-existent.

I have personally done twitter growth in the past and there's nothing there unless you're selling scams or shitcoins.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Most ppl know about twt/reddit not mastodon or Lemmy. That's where newer users will be and you can drop comments to let them know about us here.

[–] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

If us Lemmy/Mastodon users want more people, we could do our own "marketing" by creating engagement rage bait conversations on those posts ... But do we want to? Probably not.

Why the fuck did they think coming back was a good idea? The internet is changing for the worse and xitter is one of the places that is making it worse, abandoning that shithole is a step into making things better

[–] DeLancre@piefed.social 16 points 3 weeks ago

Why the fuck did they think coming back was a good idea

Money. It's always money.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 62 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

It’s one thing to continue using the fascism pedophile app. It’s something else to leave and come back.

[–] XLE@piefed.social 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

To come back by practically apologizing!

[–] Carighan@piefed.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah if the only reason they came back were daily doodles of a firefox pissing on Trump or Musk that'd be fine, but they're not doing that!

"the internet is changing" like all of a sudden neonazi techbros and their platform where they make genAI child porn are cool and okay again, according to Mozilla. absolutely bonkers shit take

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 36 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Man mozilla is so embarrassing these days.

[–] chortle_tortle@mander.xyz 6 points 3 weeks ago

Did a reinstall recently and noticed you can no longer delete the FAANG search engines from the browser, now you can only toggle them off. Made all the worse by a fun little pop-up with the redesign saying "Same settings, new look".

So depressing watching them enshitify.

[–] sidebro@lemmy.zip 31 points 3 weeks ago

Why do they always seem so out of touch, it saddens me

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 28 points 3 weeks ago

What? They’re still run by the AI child porn generating nazis.

[–] purplerabbit@piefed.blahaj.zone 25 points 3 weeks ago (6 children)

I guess Mozilla didn't like seeing Mullvad get all the attention for supporting fascists, they had to do something!

Usage of 卐 is approval of it. Embarrassing.

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why are you bringing Hindus into this?

[–] tisktisk@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Why is everyone acting like they've never seen a ninja-star?!?!

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 22 points 3 weeks ago

[–] bluGill@fedia.io 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

@wraptile@fosstodon.org Wayland is the future, stop flirting with X, it is dead dead dead!

[–] DeLancre@piefed.social 5 points 3 weeks ago

I lol'ed, thank you.

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago

They are positioning to inject CSAM generator Grok in the browser.

not even gonna read the other comments, because

WHAT THE FUCK FIREFOX/MOZILLA

FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 weeks ago

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh well. Uninstall and move on. 'Twas a good run.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Google funds fascist political campaigns and I don't think Mozilla does. Seems worse to me than using shitter. And it doesn't matter if you are using another chromium fork, Google is still getting more power to control web standards if you use a browser based on theirs.

[–] XLE@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Google funds fascist political campaigns

And Google funds Firefox, to the tune of basically their entire budget. They don't take individual donations.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (14 children)

I literally donate to Mozilla every month, so...

Is the point that you should go ahead and use chrome because Mozilla currently has a shitty funding model?

[–] XLE@piefed.social 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You can donate to Mozilla , but those donations will not be used for Firefox development (no developer salaries, etc). Firefox is developed by a for-profit that only takes money through sponsorship deals like the Google search partnership. Your donations are used for everything else, including tens of millions of dollars of AI venture capital grants for example.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (7 children)

Okay, well assuming that is true, I'm not entirely sure what to do with that information. I ask again,

Is the point that you should go ahead and use chrome because Mozilla currently has a shitty funding model?

Didn't they install some facebook suckholes to be in charge fairly recently?

I forget.

[–] menixator@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

Please donate to mozilla so that they can buy a spine.

[–] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder if they'd be better off if Mozilla starts selling VPN, DNS, mail, drive and LLM services akin to Proton.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

Good news, we can answer that.

Among other things, they joined X again
