Someone thought they had discovered something and claimed to have proof.
No one remembers what it was.
There's a Wikipedia article about the fact no one remembers.
This is so weird.
Actually this kind of thing happens more often than you might think with mathematicians
For example Fermat’s Last Theorem
That one's really incredible. A 17th century person discovers something and we find out he was right by the end of the 20th? Did I understand right?
