Andrey X who made Tweet is a journalist/activist who protects Palestinians against West Bank Pogroms and documents them from the ground. Frequently using his body as a human shield for them.

I've got a lot more faith in this Twitter account than in TheGuardian.

What Twitter account? It's a screenshot, it has the credibility of this image without a source.

The article corroborates, not discredits, what your screenshot says. You didn't provide a source and none of us should believe random screenshots without a source, so I provided one without having to go to Musk's fascist bar. We're on the same side here.

An account belongs to a person and therefore has a reputation. This person holds a higher reputation than TheGuardian.

I don't blame you for not knowing every activist but TheGuardian doesn't hold much authority with their poor reporting on Palestine.

Mainstream news has done such a poor job reporting on Palestine they shouldn't be ascribed any authority anymore.

That's unfortunately not how critical evaluation of information works.

An account belongs to a person and therefore has a reputation. In some people's eyes this person holds a higher reputation than The Guardian.

You see the issue? And again, there's no source to the tweet, it's just a screenshot.

Here's an alternative source, as you have an aversion towards The Guardian despite it backing you up in this case:

I'm not criticising. I'm trying to help, you dafty!

In the information age, and especially on a highly propagandised and emotionally charged topic like Israel/Palestine. None of us should be taking the face value of a screenshot without a source. I provided a source that backed up what your screenshot says. I chose The Guardian because it was the only news source I found without having to go onto X, because I have no interest in using that website if I can avoid it. Maybe in future you could source your screenshots so this waste of time doesn't happen again.

No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

I'm just trying to explain that Twitter users can also be reliable sources, no offense to you or anything.

The source to your tweet is Elon Musk and it has the reputation of Elon Musk. A quick search shows the tweet is real https://x.com/elonmusk/status/943901463998169088

I already know the event happened because the user posting it also posted a video of the event below it.

At least link to the tweet. It's still just a picture of text that anyone could have made.

You can look up any Tweet if you think people are faking them. Just type in a number of words from the tweet followed by "Twitter" and you can find them all.

So now Elon's shitty platform is seen as a valid archival and verification mechanism. Got it.

I mean, I would prefer the journalist use a bsky or even better, their own blog site to post their thoughts. Personally, I wouldn't be using twitter as the sole repository for this sort of stuff because Musk can easily suppress it.

Bluesky is a Zionist hellscape way worse than Twitter. At least Twitter doesn't instantly ban everyone for posting pro-Palestine content.

Censorship on Twitter has increased a lot lately yet it's still better than what Bluesky ever was.

I don't treat either place as healthy places to hear about politics. They're both corporate owned and shouldn't be trusted not to be suppressing political dissidence.

Regardless, i'd just like a link to the tweet to confirm that this isn't just a picture of text and some rando isn't putting words in the guy's mouth. This is just healthy skepticism.
