The hand shake is a pretty good sign that no more is to follow. Give em a hug, even an awkward one is more engaging than a business hand shake.
I had the hand shake after a 3-4 hour first date. I went in for a quick nice to meet you hug and she back off. Gave me the hand shake. I gave her a puzzled look. She took a minute, some back and forth i can't remember and said she wasn't into me. That was perfect. Clear to the point. Why would we want to waste our time.
I know girls have to think of exit strategies because situations with guys can go sideways. That was just the first time it had happened to me.
