2. No Zionism
Any forms of Zionism or Zionist rhetoric will not be tolerated here, this includes Zionist apologia, accusations of antisemitism towards anti-Zionists, or blatant denial or downplaying of the genocide towards Palestinians. Any attempt to uphold or prop up the IHRA definition of antisemitism, will be treated as Zionism.
Anyone engaging in Pro-Zionist sentiment or apologia will be actioned in accordance with its severity.
Note: Trying to find loopholes or whataboutery to see what is or isn't genocide denial or Zionism will be treated as a violation of this rule. Don't test us.
3. Stay Civil
Please maintain civil discourse in the community. Do not engage in arguments with others, name-calling, or insults. Note that calling out bigotry or Zionism is not considered an insult. In heated arguments users are encouraged to or even required to disengage failure to do so will result in mod action.
4. No Misinformation
Spreading of misinformation intentionally in this community is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Spreading misinformation hurts the credibility of the community and can mislead people sometimes in dangerous ways. Users who intentionally post misinformation as articles, comment answers, or in attempt to win arguments will be actioned swiftly.
Note: This includes Russian and Chinese propaganda. Users with a history of such posting will be banned on sight.
5. No AI Content
Please do not post articles or content primarily created using generative AI. Generative AI content may contain misinformation or be lower quality and thus is discouraged. Posts and comments featuring it will be removed. However this community does not allow or tolerate Anti-AI trolling or hostility and users who engage in such behavior will be actioned for it, additionally Anti-AI trolling violates Rule 3 and often Rule 4 so it is generally unacceptable already.

Australia is in line with this as well. The party that is supposed to be progressive, despite some of its members standing up (looking at you with respect Ed Husic) are bending to the will of interests against the public’s wishes. There’s targeting of disabled people which is leading them to want to put it last in preferences because they have nothing at all to lose, and they will.
It’s the same thing; we need to as a nation, vote better next time but there is no will by the majority to take it further left in a historically conservative voting nation whose people often choose the stick over the carrot as a social outlook.
The closest thing we have to a progressive party is the Greens and they don’t support Zionism.

Germany is a Nazi country so it’s to be expected that even their Greens are Nazis. Only place I’ve ever seen Zionist “leftists”.
Yeah pretty much been voting Green for many years now. It’s crazy; so many people saying we have no decent alternatives yet the Greens have the policy platform pretty much everyone who makes these complaints are chasing.
My seat is firmly conservative so my strategy is to focus on the Senate with the view of it holding the government to account in a progressive fashion as much as they can. What those Green senators do in that regard is precisely why I vote them in.
Fully agree. I'm in Queensland (Australia's Florida) and it never ceases to amaze me how the majority of people in this state will enthusiastically vote against their own best interest, complain that things have gone to shit, blame any and all progressive/green parties and then do it all again.

The worry for us is we have no Senate in our state government and you can already see how much damage Crisafulli is doing with that. Hanson would fuck this state forever and this is where she’s from.

Which party is targeting disabled people, and why?
Labor with the NDIS amendments. Some of it is nothing short of cruelty.
Many disabled people feel they have nothing to lose…take away the social and community participation budget, that’s a big aspect of enjoyable life gone for them. They’re clear; they’ll put Labor last and it doesn’t matter what’s said to them in regards to the conservatives being worse…they have to deal with what’s happening in front of them that’s real, not what may or may not under future incompetent conservative governments.
Some people were better off with NDIS plans under the conservatives. Whatever peoples take from that might be (and it’s generally misinformed by my experience, being a plan manager and carer) that’s a fact for many, and it’s enough for people with nothing to lose to put Labor last, on what’s happening in front of them.
Go take a look around the discussion with disability advocates and you’ll see what’s going on. There’s not a lot of love for Labor among the unemployed and their advocacy either. Remember, as I said these are people with not a lot to lose so they’ll vote based on how they’re being treated.
That doesn’t reflect how I may or may not vote either, just how it is.
As I recall, Albanese used a lot of talk about his sainted single Mum on disability to win support for his first term, where he promised he'd form a committee to look into raising the DSP to levels where recipients could actually afford to live. Then he promised to raise the rate if he got a second term. To be fair, he did, and some pensioners can now afford half a Mars bar as a treat if they're frugal with their medication. Raises fell far short of the recommended $60 a week necessary to manage the cost of living. But, then again, they always have.
Of course, the LNP wanted to put everyone on social security on the Twiggy Card, telling them where they could shop, and what they were allowed and not allowed to buy, with the government throwing $10,000 per cardholder at themselves and Twiggy. So they can be trusted to do right for pensioners about as much as a Death Adder with a migraine can be trusted not to lash out.
God knows where the Greens sit on any issue, since they've voted with the LNP and Labor multiple times. PHON is nothing but something created to enrich Pauline Hanson. The teals flip flop depending on the wind. Palmer's a joke.

Yes Albanese has hung his hat on this sole parent/public housing background for a while now and on several occasions.
The tax concession changes had to happen and I’m glad they did. The results from doing that are already starting to flow through with house prices taking a dip in a few of the major cities. That will continue to flow through, especially now that Chinese investors are bailing. This is all good news for future home owners and it will flow through to renters eventually as well.
The missing bits are still state pubic housing investment and a restoring of a decent trades training and vocational system by scrapping the privatised garbage we have. That hasn’t just destroyed trades training, it’s also destroyed the travelling seasonal work we used to have (the one backpackers also use) because private job companies won’t allow people to leave the area they’re registered in. They want to make money out of them with regular contact interviews and shitty courses.
Yeah the fight to keep that card out was a long, drawn out one and they won’t stop with it either, they will try it again and again until it’s introduced. It’s coming back, make no mistake about that. I guess because they were so incompetent in government, they weren’t able to get full Senate backing on it. They were forced to do things during Covid that led to raised payments as well…because they were incompetent and the backlash was strong.
It sucks; both my sons NDIS plan and our living conditions were actually better under that Coalition government than they are now; a fact that those on the left and some centrists don’t want to hear. I’m not alone, there’s quite a few NDIS recipients and carers who have or will lose out because Butler thinks no further than a spreadsheet and fraud by some providers.
For the Greens, while I find that yeah, they vote a lot with the coalition, its rarely or never with the same rationale and usually fit our benefit rather than detriment. Usually. The vape bill was an example of the opposite. So were the social network laws. I find that every election though, I’m turning up with the Greens being the clear, best option. I don’t see them as obstructionists; I helped put those Senators there to block bad legislation and improve weak, they’re as a rule doing that. They generally oppose Labor's NDIS amendment bill and they’ve gotten some good concessions on it so far.
For the teals…here we have as you say a bit of a flip flop. Most are inner city elites, with the main topic being the environment but we have a couple of socially aware among them like Ryan. They need to be watched though, we saw some opposition to the housing tax concession changes, because of course they use rentals to reduce their tax bill.
Pocock, I can say nothing about but positive. This is an elite, fighting for the lower classes. Hanson I can’t add anything more because you’re spot on, that’s exactly what PHON is.
But yes, it’s a field of shit all right and the best we can do is avoid stepping in…any shit really.
