A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

MODERATORS

Toxic plastic trash Souls with random fires everywhere, dead trees and smogged out skies that occasionally reveal a sun that burns your flesh. Occasionally, a distant plane will fall, burning out of the sky, leading to loot. Toppled skyscrapers are in the distance here and there with some of it going into the mud due to nature's overall death. Litter the place with a few toxic rivers full of garbage, with burning smokestacks in the distance among thousands of miles of shack-houses.

No guns, because by this time everyone will have willingly lent over their 2nd Amendment rights, just lead pipes full of screws and Stop Signs replaced with giant buzzsaws. Throwables would be molotovs and grenades made of leftover fireworks.

The 'lord souls' if you'd like to call them that, would essentially range from gang lords for mid-bosses leading to capitalist overlords by way of metroidvania-style exploration of their dens of pure malice and spite.

Craftable items would be bolstered by finding various Anarchist Cookbooks.

You play the zero horizon games? It's kind of that. But more aesthetic.

It has a great story btw and it's definitely the fault of capitalism how it all went to hell.

Very dark. Very rich.

I have not, no Playstation here.

I imagine also things like Helldivers are the future of the totally hypothetical universe we're theorizing.

40k? Not so much. There's some mystic Jesus shit going on in 40k.

Both Horizon games got ported to PC.

It doesn't have the exact vibe you are describing, but basically it is set at the point of time that we clearly had an apocalypse but it is over and nature and humanity started over. And you slowly uncover what happened as the game goes.

I didn't care much for the gameplay (though it did grow on me in time), generic open world stuff but the main story and worldbuilding made up for that a hundred times for me.

Can't talk on the second one as I didn't play it yet.

The second one is pretty similar in terms of gameplay with some improvements in climbing and balance. There was some improvements on combat but I didn't think that was anything special for either game. The concept of weak points is interesting but I found it difficult to execute on most enemies.

The story is pretty good in the second one too. And there was a dlc for that one too.

I felt like the graphics were slightly better but just a tiny bit. The first was already decent.

The end definitely set up for a third act. Hopefully it gets made.

One of the main actors that plays an important (and favorite) side character passed away so I know that was something that could complicate things.

Good to hear the story is good!

Not too much of a cliffhanger I hope? As a PC player I likely won't ever play any further sequels :(
