Another Crab’s Treasure has these vibes.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Like Fallout 4 on Very Hard/Survival but without the game-breaking bugs?
You play the zero horizon games? It's kind of that. But more aesthetic.
It has a great story btw and it's definitely the fault of capitalism how it all went to hell.
Very dark. Very rich.
I have not, no Playstation here.
I imagine also things like Helldivers are the future of the totally hypothetical universe we're theorizing.
40k? Not so much. There's some mystic Jesus shit going on in 40k.
Both Horizon games got ported to PC.
It doesn't have the exact vibe you are describing, but basically it is set at the point of time that we clearly had an apocalypse but it is over and nature and humanity started over. And you slowly uncover what happened as the game goes.
I didn't care much for the gameplay (though it did grow on me in time), generic open world stuff but the main story and worldbuilding made up for that a hundred times for me.
Can't talk on the second one as I didn't play it yet.
If you want a soulslike that plays on the dangers of modern capitalism and consumerism, The Surge is pretty fitting.
I also heard "The Forever Winter"** was rather close to the concept thematically.
Forever Winter is a great game but runs like absolute ass if you don't have a pretty powerful modern rig, and even then it's still choppy.
My friends play it. I tried but can't get above 30 frames with my outdated rig.
Talk about games with wasted potential... I was so hyped for this game and it's just unplayable
Isn't this just Hell is US?
Guys, are we in the bad place?
