Sorry but this is silly. It’s like someone saying, “Well the bad guy in XYZ movie was a nazi which is problematic, therefore the movie is.” Like, what?

The presence of problematic ideas is not in itself an issue. In almost any instance that Fio is objectified it’s immediately shown that it’s a flawed perspective of the characters doing it, which goes for Gina too (though she’s a badass and knows how to use it to work the people dishing it out to her). The movie’s voice doesnt endorse any of it, and if anything rejects those things outright any time they’re brought up.

Is media literacy even a thing anymore?

I heard Inglorious Bastards had Nazis in it which is kind of problematic.

Is media literacy even a thing anymore?

Why think about media when you just can simply label something as problematic instead?

Media literacy? Hush now. Sit back and relax while I play you the latest Marvel movie: Thor and The Other Guys - Ouch My Balls editions.

Anyone familiar with anime understands why an audience might not trust an anime to portray sexism and pedophilia as a serious character flaw.

Anyone familiar with Ghibli should know they're built different and basically always have been.

Maybe vaguely in general, but you have to look at each show individually.

I've had conversations about One Piece before where the other person didn't want to watch it solely because it had slavery in it, despite every depiction of slavery in the show being blatantly evil.

There's a big difference between avoiding uncomfortable content and mistaking its mere existence in the text as support for the idea.

Im not saying these are problematic, just what others have seen as problematic. They are themes that are part of the story and character. It is silly to point them out as problematic, but people are silly.

Oh yeah, my comments weren’t directed at you specifically, but at the general notion.
