Mark Carney is either a fraud or a buffoon. I don't think anyone thinks he's a buffoon.
I think everyone expects him to pay lip service to the climate while boosting oil and gas.
But he is an econ guy remember. So surely he will attack Canada's terrible productivity problem right?
Explain to me how subjecting government workers to two hours of sitting in their car each day makes them more productive. How does clogging the roads with traffic help businesses complete deliveries in a timely matter. Does it shrink spending on emergency services, and road maintenance or increase it? How about income from tourists? Who needs tourists bringing money into the local economy spending money at local businesses when they can idle their cars in traffic.
Apparently Canada needs to build data centres for data sovereignty, yet he is handing over all Canadian data to Palantir and paying for the privilege. He has not even made any lip service about getting the government off of American software. Meanwhile Europe is rapidly building and implementing its own search engines, software and moving things over to FOSS and Linux.
You don't understand what productivity refers to. It refers to development of technology to industry, not having an economy tied to bullshit government jobs that produce nothing but paper. No one in Ottawa is "productive", it's all bloated overhead.
Like it or not, Canada is a resources based economy. We consistently fail at development of new technologies, i.e. Nortel, RIM/Blackberry. RIM should be as big as Apple but they blew it.
How about construction workers, truck drivers carrying goods to the border for export, business people hoping to board planes to make international deals?
They don't produce anything? A plumber that does three house calls in a day and has to cancel his fourth call of the day (yours) as they don't have time to complete it because of traffic slowing their travel time is no problem for you? 3 jobs in a day instead of 4 isn't less productive?
