For me it's been communities like /r/buildapc, /r/buildapcforme, /r/buildapcsales, /r/gamedeals, and /r/consoledeals have been useful throughout the years.

Mystery, true crime, or r/RBI type content would be all it takes to solidify my place here. Many of those communities across the web lean into their toxicity, so I’m crossing my fingers for a sane place to engage in discussion and participate in deep dives.

Even more specifically, subs like r/whatisthisthing or r/toyid are fun for people who enjoy some light sleuthing. Anyone know if there’s a Lemmy equivalent or adjacent to any of these?

Same story with me. I would also love to see some paranormal and "glitch in the matrix" type communities.

I’d consider starting one up myself, but I’m so new to all this that I don’t know what all it entails. Does it come with any responsibilities? I’m not great with those…

I would have to imagine you'd at least need a decent moderator or two. If you ever get around to starting one, particularly involving paranormal/glitch/alien subjects, I would be willing to help with moderation. Just let me know! :)
