Rules…
- Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
- Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
- Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
- No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.

I separate my work time from my personal time. It doesn’t matter what job it is, my personal time is my time. My laptop gets shut down and put away, any work items on my desk get put away. I don’t answer calls from colleagues during my time.
The only exception is in extreme cases like when I had to make last minute flight changes for 2 employees who would have been stuck because of a nasty storm. All I asked was that they text me when they landed at home safely. They did and I went about the rest of my weekend.
This right here.
I stopped doing anything work-related (yes, this included "mandatory" extracurricular activities like "team-building" back when that was all the craze) outside of working hours unless paid at the usual overtime rates: time and a half for overtime, double time for weekends, double time and a half for holidays. I started this ban in the early '90s and stuck to it until now.
If this "limited" my career somehow, well, if working for free and ruining my actual life is "limiting", I think I prefer being limited.
Oh yes this! I used to let jobs run my life.
