Before battle, crusaders would pray. After battles (if they won) they would then pillage and slaughter nonbelievers in the name of their God. Obviously the Christian God is in favor of death. The GOP is simply continuing the crusaders work at home.

They lost. They won some battles, but lost most of them and finally lost the Crusades. A lot of medieval thinkers said it was because crusaders were bloodthirsty and corrupt and that God made them loose.
